Scientific Update

A complete scientific report on the greenhouse effect has been made available on the Web by the French association Les Amis de la Terre. Three sections are to be discovered:

  • what's been established as fact
  • what's plausible
  • what's controversial.

The text is rather dense, but will give you a clear idea of what's happening today.

The Kyoto Summit on Global Warming

Check out the Web site of the French television station France2, where you'll find a complete, didactic report of the summit held in Kyoto, on December 10, 1997.

The French national newspaper Le Monde has also published a special report entitled Le défi climatique divise la planète (The Climatic Challenge Divides the Planet).

Resolutely multimedia, the Canadian site La Voie Verte proposes a conference on climatic changes and the greenhouse effect (in Real Audio 5, a downloadable plug-in).

Guillaume Voutay's personal site, dedicated to meteorological and climatic catastrophes also contains a chapter on the greenhouse effect. This useful link also offers a selection of works as well as links to other sites.

To find out if your neck of the woods is being subjected to global warming, click on Yahoo Meteo (http://meteo.yahoo.fr): on the menu, weather conditions in France and in the rest of the world as well. Meteo France's site is also a good place to look for French weather updates
